Al Copeland, a hard-charging, high-living entrepreneur who built an empire on spicy fried chicken and fluffy white biscuits, died Sunday in Munich, Germany, of complications from cancer treatment. He was 64.From the flashy cars to the cigarette boat races at the lake to the opulent Christmas displays at his Jefferson Parish residence, Al Copeland was certainly one of a kind. My wife introduced me to Popeyes Fried Chicken when we were dating and I guess I've been hooked ever since. Dr. John had that catchy little jingle I still recall. I'm sure he had an interesting life. There's no mention in this video of the two other failed marriages or to the acquisition of the Church's Fried Chicken chain and subsequent bankruptcy. Still, for one who was a 7th grade dropout, he performed beyond expectations.
He had gone to Munich for treatment of his illness, which had been diagnosed in November, said Kit Wohl, his spokeswoman.
Born in poverty, Mr. Copeland burst onto the scene in 1972, when he opened his first Popeyes fried-chicken stand. The Arabi restaurant was the start of a franchise that, under his leadership, had 700 outlets, in the United States, Puerto Rico, Panama and Kuwait.
I hope the guy knew Christ. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. Money can buy a name, but one Name can't be bought.

It's not hard to do Christian music. Anybody can. Anybody. The story behind "Spirit in the Sky" is but one example.
He [Norman Greenbaum] was inspired to write the song after watching Porter Wagoner on TV singing a gospel song. Greenbaum later said : "I thought, 'Yeah, I could do that,' knowing nothing about gospel music, so I sat down and wrote my own gospel song. It came easy. I wrote the words in 15 minutes."
"Spirit in the Sky" contains lyrics about the afterlife, making several references to Jesus. However, Greenbaum, who identifies himself as Jewish, stated that he had no particular religious intentions with the song. He simply wanted to reach a bigger market.
In fifteen minutes he creates a one hit wonder. The point is, consider the "vessel" of the music. People are Christians. I can assure you, God doesn't think much of keychains, mints, movies, video games or posters.

...what happened to those days when ethnic humor was in its prime? Back in the days when stand up comedians could talk about white guys or black guys and people would laugh instead of cringe.
I wonder what was this guy was being told about his "racist" comment. People just take themselves too seriously to laugh anymore. Maybe that's why this clip is so funny.

A mayor in southwest France has threatened residents of his village of Sarpourenx with severe punishment if they die because there's no room in the cemetery. Mayor Gerard Lalanne posted an ordinance in the council offices advising the village's 260 residents that "all persons not having a plot in the cemetery and wishing to be buried in Sarpourenx are forbidden from dying in the parish."Must be a mayor who thinks highly of Clinton and "Hillcare".

All we ask is to be let alone. Yes, we Southrons recall the Great War of Southron Independence and will not "get over it" because the North would not get over our right of secession. All we of the South ask now, and have ever asked, is to be let alone.

As of today, the day after the Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island primaries:
Obama = approx. 1546 total delegates
Clinton = approx. 1449 total delegates
There are 2025 needed to win nomination
2025 - 1546 = 479 delegates Obama needs to win
2025 - 1449 = 576 delegates Clinton needs to win
Remaining state delegates up for grabs
prior to June 10 Democratic party delegate closing = 611
479/611 = 78% of remaining available delegates for Obama to capture nomination
576/611 = 94% of remaining available delegates for Clinton to capture nomination

Pennsylvania = 37% Obama, 46% Clinton
North Carolina = 47% Obama, 38% Clinton
All this means that:
1) At this point, one side would need overwhelming, landslide like wins over the other in every remaining contest to come close to winning the nomination. For Clinton, this is a clearer impossibility than Obama. But even repeated 80% vote wins by Obama over Clinton are fading dreams.
2) The polls in Pennsylvania and N. Carolina already show that ain't happenin'
3) When the first convention ballots are cast there will be no clear winner.
4) The back room deals struck at the convention will lead to Dame Clinton taking the nomination with the Magic Negro agreeing to take second fiddle. No need for ugly party infighting if the plan is to make up in the end anyway.
5) McCain's campaign, with conservatives leaving in droves, will go nowhere against the media excitement over the populist candidacy of Clinton/Obama.

ADDITIONAL: Although I hadn't read this piece prior, it seems to validate at least part of my assessment.
ABC News' current delegate estimate has Obama at 1,555.
That means he would need to win 77% of all the remaining pledged delegates to hit the magic number of 2,024 to secure the nomination. That is highly unlikely due to the proportional delegate allocation rules in the Democratic Party.

Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, has argued that the miraculous sights and sounds in the Exodus account of God's giving of the Torah to Moses may have been drug induced.This psychological blowhole is suggesting Eve was seduced to get high on a tree by a serpent...which spoke to her. Jonah, I suppose, was high on drugs when he was swallowed by a great fish. Enoch's drugs got him translated into the afterlife by God because he was a good man. Mention Elijah raising the dead, bringing fire down from heaven and being caught up in a whirlwind and the guy is no doubt combing the countryside for some of that stash. Since this putz is Jewish I shan't go into Jesus and His miracles.
Shanon, who published his theory in the scholarly journal Time and Mind, said the Mount Sinai spectacle recalled a "trip" he experienced after drinking psychotropic drugs of a kind that can be found in some desert plants.
"I experienced visions that had spiritual-religious connotations," Ha'aretz quoted Shanon as saying. "It seems logical that something was altered in people's consciousness. There are other stories in the Bible that mention the use of plants: for example, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the
Garden of Eden."
According to Shanon, the drug theory is more feasible than other explanations for the Mount Sinai story -- that indeed the Israelites communicated with God -- or that it is all just a fairy tale.
